Man caught downloading child porn during raid; gets 10 years in prison

In 2015, a 60-year-old man Robert D. Jackson from Georgetown Kentucky had his house raided by investigators who discovered a laptop in the middle of downloading child pornography. Jackson was then arrested in December that year and indicted by a jury in August 2016.

In May 2017 Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of child porn distribution and 25 counts of possession. Andy Beshear, Attorney General of Kentucky stated that, when investigators scanned Jackson’s laptop, they found “hundreds of files depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.”

Jackson has been sentenced to 10 years in prison which is quite a surprise since the United States is harsh on child predators. Last year, a Florida Man was arrested after investigators found highly explicit images of children on his personal computer. It is being reported that he might face 1,140 years in prison for his crime.

Another Florida man is serving 30 years in jail for operating a child porn website “Playpen” on the Dark Web. As for the state of Kentucky, its Attorney General Beshear is vowing to keep the state’s children safe from online predators.

“Shielding Kentucky’s children from online predators and sexual abuse is one of my top priorities,” said Beshear.

Since 2016, the number of online child predators who have been arrested, indicted and convicted has risen to 80. If you have to report such cases contact Child Exploitation Investigations Unit of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
